Pope Leo XIV declares six new Venerables in Catholic Church

Pope Leo XIV has authorized the promulgation of six decrees recognizing the heroic virtues of six Servants of God, granting them the title of Venerable. This decision was announced during an audience with Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.

The six individuals recognized include:

• Friedrich Kaiser Depel: A German missionary and the first territorial prelate of Caravelí, Peru. • Oreste Marengo: A Salesian bishop who served extensively in India, speaking over twenty local languages. • Margarita Bavosi (known as “Luminosa”): An Argentine laywoman and member of the Focolare Movement. • Domenico Pogliani: A priest from the Archdiocese of Milan known for his charitable works. • Alessandro Vitetti: A priest from the Diocese of Rossano-Cariati, Italy. • Daniele di San Giovanni Rotondo: A Capuchin friar and spiritual son of Saint Padre Pio.

This recognition marks a decisive step in the process toward beatification, though it does not yet constitute beatification, which typically requires the recognition of a miracle attributed to the individual's intercession.
