Vattenfall pilot permits gasoline and diesel cars at EV charging spots in North Brabant and Limburg

Energy company Vattenfall is launching a pilot in the Dutch provinces of North Brabant and Limburg that allows gasoline‑ and diesel‑powered vehicles to park at public electric‑vehicle charging points without risk of a fine. The trial, which begins on 1 August, will be carried out at selected locations in municipalities such as Baarle‑Nassau, Gilze en Rijen, Asten, Bergen op Zoom, Eersel, Etten‑Leur, Geldrop‑Mierlo, Goirle, Landgraaf, Moerdijk, Oosterhout, Tilburg, Vught, Weert and Zundert. The aim is to see whether shared use of charging spots can reduce the need for separate municipal decisions, speed up the rollout of new chargers, and ease the growing parking pressure caused by the rapid rise of electric cars. A comparable trial is also planned for Oisterwijk, where six charging locations will be opened without exclusive parking reservations.
