Vattenfall proposes two new wind farms in East Anglia

Energy firm Vattenfall has announced plans for two new onshore wind farms in East Anglia, England, which could collectively provide electricity for up to 321,369 homes annually.

The proposed Redmere Wind Farm, located near Shippea Hill, is expected to feature up to 32 turbines with a capacity of 303MW. The second project, Chatteris Wind Farm, is planned south of Chatteris with a capacity of 126MW. Together, the developments would represent a combined capacity of approximately 429MW.

Vattenfall is currently in the development and public consultation phase. While each project will require a separate planning application, the company is introducing them together to facilitate community engagement. The firm aims to ensure at least a 10 percent net gain for biodiversity throughout the lifespan of the parks. Public drop-in sessions are scheduled for October in locations including Feltwell and Littleport to gather community feedback.
