Vattenfall wins major offshore wind tender in Denmark

Swedish energy company Vattenfall has won a major tender to develop two new offshore wind farms in Denmark: Nordsøen Midt and Hesselø Havvindmøllepark. These projects are expected to provide at least 1.8 GW of green electricity, serving approximately 1.8 million Danes.

Despite political desires to reduce reliance on Chinese suppliers, Vattenfall has indicated it will not rule out using Chinese vendors. The reports suggest that even if the wind turbines themselves do not carry Chinese branding, avoiding Chinese influence within the broader project supply chain remains a significant challenge.
