Vaudreuil-Dorion inaugurates community orchard and youth art project
The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion has inaugurated a new collective orchard at Lorne-Worsley Park. The project was the winning initiative of the 2024 participatory budget, proposed by local citizen Éric Jean. The orchard features approximately twenty fruit trees, including plum, pear, apple, cherry, and peach trees, alongside various fruit shrubs such as honeyberry, raspberry, currant, and gooseberry. The space is open to the entire community.
In a separate cultural initiative, the city presented ‘ÉCO’, an artistic projection and mapping work displayed on the municipal pole. The project involved nearly 150 children aged 9 to 12 from local day camps. Under the guidance of artist Philippe Corriveau, participants explored themes of nature and biodiversity by creating animals and plants through drawing and collage, which were then animated using digital tools to form a collective imaginary ecosystem.
