Angels beat Tigers 10-6; Grissom's slam and two Tigers pitchers injured

Vaughn Grissom delivered a grand slam and six RBIs to lift the Los Angeles Angels to a 10-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers on May 26, 2026. The slam came in the eighth inning after Angels catcher Will Vest struggled, giving Los Angeles a 9-6 lead. Jo Adell and Jose Siri added solo homers for the Angels, while Detroit's Wenceel Pérez and Kevin McGonigle provided offense with a homer and a two‑run triple.

The following day the Tigers rebounded with a 4-0 shutout of the Angels, but the win came at a cost. Starting pitcher Casey Mize left after four innings due to right‑groin tightness, saying, “Same area — just the sensation of it was less than last time.” Closer Kenley Jansen also exited in the ninth with an injury. Detroit’s bullpen, including Drew Anderson and Kyle Finnegan, covered the remaining innings. The injuries add to an already crowded Tigers pitching list that includes ace Tarik Skubal and veteran Justin Verlander.

The series highlights the Angels' offensive surge and the Tigers' mounting health challenges as the teams continue their three‑game matchup.
