Wildfires sweep through multiple regions in France

Multiple wildfires have broken out across various regions in France, with significant activity reported in Aude, Ardèche, and Côte-d’Or.

In the Aude department, a major fire in Puilaurens has burned approximately 225 hectares. The blaze, which started Friday afternoon, remains unfixed due to steep terrain, high temperatures, and wind. As a precaution, authorities evacuated the Puilaurens Castle—a UNESCO World Heritage site—and roughly thirty residents. Over 330 firefighters and 100 vehicles are currently deployed, supported by aerial assets including Canadairs and helicopters.

In Ardèche, firefighters have been battling a fire between Les Vans and Malbosc for three days. The blaze has covered about 50 hectares, and while some areas are contained, officials remain cautious due to heatwave warnings and the risk of reignition.

Other incidents include a four-hectare vegetation fire in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Côte-d’Or, which was successfully extinguished by sixty firefighters, and a tractor fire in Offekerque that destroyed a load of flax but was contained before spreading further.
