Vaxdigm joins national R&D to develop RNA virus therapeutics

Vaxdigm, in collaboration with researchers from the Catholic University of Korea and Sungkyunkwan University, has been selected for a national R&D project funded by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute. The research aims to develop next-generation antiviral therapeutics to combat RNA viruses, specifically targeting the Double-Membrane Vesicle (DMV) platform used by viruses like SARS-CoV-2 for replication.

The project is designed to address ‘Disease X’—potential future unknown infectious diseases—by establishing a flexible treatment strategy capable of responding to new and emerging viral variants. The research will be conducted in two stages over a maximum of four years, with a total budget of up to 2.9 billion KRW. The first stage involves 925 million KRW in government support to identify lead candidates and conduct non-clinical efficacy evaluations.
