VCK functionaries attacked in Madurai

Two functionaries of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party were victims of separate violent attacks in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

In the first incident near Melur, a youth identified as Selvam sustained severe injuries, including a severed right wrist, during a sickle attack. He was admitted to the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital for surgery. In a second, separate incident in Ambedkar Nagar, VCK functionary Alagar was reportedly assaulted with a machete, resulting in critical head injuries.

VCK president Thirumavalavan has called on the Tamil Nadu government to arrest the perpetrators, place them under preventive detention, and provide compensation to the victims under the SC/ST Act.
