Václav Dejčmar proposes limiting voting rights for seniors

Investor Václav Dejčmar has proposed a radical idea to limit voting rights for senior citizens in the Czech Republic. In an interview with Seznam Zprávy, Dejčmar suggested that just as individuals under 18 are excluded from voting, the final 18 years of a person's life—based on average life expectancy—should also be excluded from the electoral process.

Dejčmar argued that seniors often vote based on immediate fears and pension-related interests rather than the long-term future of the state. He stated, “The world would be fine if those people didn't vote,” suggesting their voting patterns negatively impact society.

The proposal has drawn sharp criticism from political figures. Kateřina Konečná, an MEP and leader of the KSČM, described such ideas as “absolutely insane” and compared them to “Nazi practices.” Former Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček also condemned the notion, calling it an absurdity.
