Václav Vydra mourns the loss of his long-time companion horse

Czech actor Václav Vydra has expressed his grief following the death of his horse, a companion of over 24 years. Speaking on Čestmír Strakatý’s podcast, Vydra described the loss as particularly painful, noting the deep bond and lessons in patience and consistency he shared with the animal.

Vydra, who lives on a farm near the Slapská reservoir with his wife Jana Boušková, reflected on how living closely with animals prepares one for the reality of mortality. Despite the personal loss, the 70-year-old actor expressed his desire to continue his acting career for as long as possible, following the professional legacy of his parents and grandfather.
