Víctor Ito Bisonó begins tenure as Dominican Foreign Minister
Víctor ‘Ito’ Bisonó has officially assumed his role as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic following his appointment by President Luis Abinader. Bisonó, who previously served as Minister of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs, was sworn in by Vice President Raquel Peña.
In his first official diplomatic actions, Bisonó met with the United States Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Leah Francis Campos. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and the cooperation agenda between the two nations, specifically addressing shared interests in trade, investment, and security. Bisonó emphasized that the relationship is built on mutual respect and shared values such as democracy and sovereignty.
Additionally, the new minister held a working session with the viceministers and directors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) to review ongoing projects, institutional planning, and priority issues to ensure the continuity of the country's foreign policy processes.
