Víctor Ibarbo nears return to Italy with US Pontedera

Colombian striker Víctor Ibarbo is reportedly close to returning to Italian football by joining US Pontedera, a club competing in Serie D. The 36-year-old former World Cup player is expected to bring significant international experience to the Tuscan side as they seek promotion.

Ibarbo’s potential move gained traction after he was spotted in the stands during Pontedera’s recent pre-season friendly against Urbino Taccola. The player previously established a strong reputation in Italy through stints with Cagliari, where he played over 120 Serie A matches, and AS Roma.

Following his time in Italy, Ibarbo played for clubs including Watford in England, Panathinaikos in Greece, and various teams in Japan and Colombia. Most recently, he played for Internacional Palmira in the Colombian second division, where he recorded 43 appearances and 8 goals.
