Víctor Muñoz joins Liverpool under new coach Andoni Iraola

World Cup‑winning Spanish winger Víctor Muñoz has begun training with Liverpool FC, becoming the first 2026 World Cup champion to report for pre‑season. The 27‑year‑old arrived at the club on 19 July, just 17 days after Spain’s triumph in the United States, and is expected to feature under new manager Andoni Iraola.

Iraola praised Muñoz’s mentality, saying the player “is a winner and asked to return early from his vacation,” and highlighted his fit with Liverpool’s playing style. Liverpool paid a €40 million transfer fee to acquire Muñoz, who previously played for Osasuna and Real Madrid. The signing follows the departure of long‑time forward Mohamed Salah and signals the club’s intent to rebuild its attack for the upcoming Premier League season.
