VDS Defense to launch military technology platform in Valencia

VDS Defense, a new European platform co-driven by Spain and Finland, will hold its first major activation on October 21 and 22 at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. Organized by Startup Valencia, the initiative aims to accelerate the development, validation, and adoption of critical defense and security technologies by bridging the gap between military operators and the technological ecosystem.

The platform seeks to address systemic delays in defense innovation, such as slow procurement processes, lack of specialized funding, and the disconnect between technological development and operational requirements. To combat this, VDS Defense will implement Deployment Labs and Operator Feedback Sessions, allowing military professionals and veterans to evaluate solutions for readiness and utility from the earliest stages of development.

The event is expected to host representatives from the 27 EU member states and 14 other countries, with participation from NATO DIANA, the NATO Innovation Fund, and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. The Generalitat Valenciana will serve as a host partner, connecting the initiative to the regional industrial and institutional fabric.
