Veda Ega Pratama secures historic Moto3 pole position in Australia

Indonesian rider Veda Ega Pratama has made history by becoming the first Indonesian to claim a pole position in the Moto3 World Championship. Competing for Honda Team Asia, the 17-year-old secured the top spot during qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix at the Phillip Island Circuit.

Pratama recorded a fastest lap of 1:35.299, narrowly beating the current Moto3 champion, Maximo Quiles, by just 0.021 seconds. Local favorite Joel Kelso will start from third on the grid. Pratama’s achievement followed a challenging start to the weekend, as he had to progress through Qualifying 1 (Q1) after finishing 16th in the second free practice session.

The pole position marks a significant milestone in Pratama's debut Moto3 season. He currently sits eighth in the championship standings with 111 points. The race is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 25.
