Veda Ega Pratama loses Moto3 Australia podium chance to cancellation
Indonesian rider Veda Ega Pratama missed the opportunity to compete for a podium at the 2026 Moto3 Australian Grand Prix after the race at Phillip Island was cancelled due to severe weather.
Representing Honda Team Asia, Veda achieved a historic milestone by securing pole position after progressing from the first qualifying session (Q1) through to Q2. However, heavy rain and fog severely limited visibility, preventing the race from taking place.
The decision to cancel the Moto3 and Moto2 races was driven by safety protocols. Poor visibility hindered the operation of medical helicopters, which are essential for rapid emergency response given that ground transport to the nearest hospital takes approximately 45 minutes.
Under FIM regulations, because the race was cancelled before the required number of laps were completed, no championship points were awarded to any riders in the Moto3, Moto2, or MotoGP classes. Despite the disappointment, Veda is shifting his focus to the upcoming Grand Prix in Malaysia.
