Vedran Lakić denies political discredit over wife's business

Vedran Lakić, the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry, has responded to allegations of political discredit regarding his wife’s business activities. The controversy centers on LML Group, a Tuzla-based company owned by Alma Lakić, which reported nearly doubled revenues and tripled profits last year.

Lakić addressed claims linking his ministerial mandate to his wife’s business dealings with the public sector. He clarified that two direct agreements involving the company, totaling 7,051 KM, were signed on March 14, 2023, prior to his appointment as federal minister. He characterized the attempt to link the company’s total business results of nearly one million KM to these two specific contracts as ‘classic political manipulation.’

Lakić defended his wife, noting she is not a public official and is a professional karate master and world-licensed referee. He stated that her business operations are transparent, taxes are paid, and urged political opponents to criticize his work rather than targeting his family.
