Vedrana Rudan: Posthumous book collection released

The final book by Croatian writer Vedrana Rudan, titled ‘Kao da me ima’ (As If I Am Here), has been published. The collection features her most significant texts spanning nearly three decades, including columns from Feral Tribune, Nacional, and her personal blog.

Rudan, who passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 77 after a long battle with a serious illness, collaborated on the project with her son, Slaven Hrvatin. The idea for the collection was conceived in early 2026 as a way to provide a distraction from her medical treatments. Rudan approved the selection of texts and the title before her death.

Even in her final months, Rudan continued to write, often using her mobile phone to send texts to her son when she could no longer sit at a desk. The book is published by Laguna and aims to showcase both her well-known sharp social commentary and more intimate, lesser-known writings.
