Vedrana Rudan, prominent Croatian writer and journalist, dies at 77
Croatian writer, journalist, and activist Vedrana Rudan has passed away at the age of 77 following a battle with an aggressive form of bile duct cancer. Her death was announced on her official Facebook page with the symbolic message, “Vedrana has gone to a zone without signal.”
Rudan was widely recognized for her sharp, provocative, and uncompromising writing style, frequently addressing topics such as feminism, politics, social hypocrisy, and family dynamics. Her literary career included numerous novels, such as “Uho, grlo, nož,” and her works have been translated into several languages and adapted for the stage.
Public figures across the region have expressed their condolences. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Minister Ivica Dačić praised her courage to speak her mind without fear. Singer Severina also shared an emotional tribute, recalling Rudan’s strength and character during her illness.
