Veeam launches Data Platform v13.1 with 14‑hypervisor support and malware scanning

Veeam announced the general availability of Veeam Data Platform v13.1. The update expands hypervisor coverage to 14 platforms, adding six new hypervisors – Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, Sangfor aSV, XCP-ng, Citrix XenServer, VergeIO and Platform9 – with the Red Hat plug‑in expected in Q3.

Security enhancements include pre‑restore malware scanning for NAS storage and Azure cloud workloads, Active Directory Forest Recovery, post‑quantum cryptography alignment and hybrid FIPS support. Enterprise‑application protection is broadened to EPIC EHR, Db2 on Windows and Oracle with incremental merge, plus an Application Backup Repository for custom apps. Veeam also introduced the Data Cloud Vault Archive, an immutable, encrypted tier for long‑term backup retention.

The rollout targets a recovery confidence gap: while 90 % of organizations believe they can recover from a cyber incident, fewer than one‑third of ransomware victims fully restore their data. "Resilience will act as the backbone of continued operations," said Rehan Jalil, President of Products and Technology at Veeam.
