VEF Rīga adds American guard Jordan Sears to roster

Latvian basketball club VEF Rīga announced that American guard Jordan Sears, born in 2001, will join the team for the 2026‑27 season. Sears previously played in Germany's second division for Göttingen, averaging 15.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists, with 20.5 points and four assists in knockout games. He also spent five seasons in the U.S. college system, scoring 22.8 points per game with the Tennessee‑Martin Skyhawks in 2023‑24 before moving to LSU, where he posted 11.8 points per game.

The club will field returning Latvian stars Aigars Šķēle, Mareks Mejeris and Ojārs Siliņš, as well as Panama national team player Luis Rodriguez, alongside veterans Rihards Berkolds, Rodrigo Būmeisters, Rihards Aleksandrovs and Jēkabs Niedra. VEF Rīga finished fourth in the Latvian league last season and earned bronze in the Latvian‑Estonian league. The team will attempt to qualify for the FIBA Champions League, otherwise it will compete in the FIBA Europe Cup.
