Vega de Espinareda parents protest nursery classroom unification
Parents and teachers at the CEIP Piñera school in Vega de Espinareda are protesting a decision by the regional Ministry of Education to unify nursery school classrooms. The plan aims to group students from the first and second years of nursery education into a single classroom, citing that enrollment numbers—five and seven students respectively—do not meet the minimum required to maintain separate units.
The Parents' Association (AMPA) argues that the decision ignores the developmental differences between the age groups and fails to account for a student with special educational needs. They contend that the move contradicts the regional government's stated commitment to supporting rural areas and fighting depopulation. The families are demanding that the provincial education authorities reconsider the reorganization to ensure age-appropriate pedagogical attention.
