Vehicle crash and truck fire cause traffic disruption in New South Wales
A two-vehicle crash and a truck fire caused significant traffic disruptions across New South Wales on Monday, October 19.
In Lake Tabourie, south of Ulladulla, a car and a truck collided on the Princes Highway near Monkey Mountain and Wheelbarrow roads. The accident brought down power lines and forced the highway to close in both directions. A female passenger was initially trapped in the car but was later treated for back pain and minor injuries. The male driver also sustained minor injuries. Both occupants were transported to Shoalhaven Hospital in stable condition, while the truck driver was uninjured. The highway reopened by 6:30 am.
Separately, a truck fire occurred on the M1 Princes Motorway at Mount Pleasant, north of Wollongong. The fire broke out around 6:35 am as the vehicle was traveling southbound past New Mount Pleasant Road. No injuries were reported in the fire, but the incident caused southbound lane closures and traffic delays extending to the Picton Road interchange.
