Vehicle Falls into Sinkhole in Constitución, Chile Amid Heavy Rain

A deep sinkhole formed on Avenida El Dique in the city of Constitución, Maule Region, after intense rainfall. A jeep driven by Herminda Echeverría slipped into the hole, disappearing almost entirely beneath the ground. Echeverría reported that the vehicle sank about a meter deep as she turned onto the street, and she and her son were forced to escape the vehicle quickly. No injuries were reported, and local authorities were urged to address the hazardous condition to prevent further incidents.

The incident highlights the risk of sudden ground collapses during heavy rainstorms in the region and prompted calls for increased monitoring of road infrastructure.
