Fatal Crash and Fire on Austria's L4024 Claims 18‑Year‑Old Driver

A severe traffic collision occurred Saturday night on the L4024 road between Aigen and Enzesfeld‑Lindabrunn in the Baden district of Austria. An 18‑year‑old driver entered a curve at excessive speed, lost control and collided head‑on with a 67‑year‑old driver travelling in the opposite direction. The impact ignited the younger driver’s vehicle, trapping him inside.

Seven people were injured; three passengers from the younger driver’s car were rescued by a witness before the fire spread. The 18‑year‑old died at the scene, while the other occupants and the occupants of the opposite vehicle were taken to hospitals in Vienna and Wiener Neustadt, some by helicopter. The road was closed to all traffic until shortly after 03:00 while emergency services dealt with the blaze and cleared the scene.
