Vehicle inspection updates in Costa Rica and Spain

In Costa Rica, Dekra has announced an extraordinary service day for vehicle technical inspections (ITV) this Sunday, August 23. Twelve stations across various locations, including Heredia, Alajuela, Cartago, and Puntarenas, will operate between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to provide additional options for drivers. Appointments must be scheduled in advance via the Dekra Costa Rica website or their telephone service.

Separately, authorities in Spain have addressed misinformation regarding vehicle inspections. False reports claiming that cars older than ten years must undergo ITV inspections every six months have been debunked. According to current regulations under Royal Decree 920/2017, inspections for these vehicles remain an annual requirement. Driving with an expired inspection in Spain still carries a 200 euro fine.
