Vehicle registrations rise in Croatia and Slovenia

In Croatia, new vehicle registrations have shown a steady upward trend, rising from 36,084 in 2020 to 69,140 in 2025. During the first seven months of 2026, Zagreb recorded the highest number of new registrations with 21,197 units, followed by Split-Dalmatia and Bjelovar-Bilogora. Leading brands in the market include Škoda, Volkswagen, Opel, Renault, and Suzuki, with the Škoda Octavia being the most registered model in Croatia so far this year. Fuel types are shifting, with hybrids accounting for 46.7% of registrations, petrol at 37.4%, diesel at 10.5%, and electric vehicles at 4.4%.

In Slovenia, the Zasavje region has seen a continuous increase in registered motor and passenger vehicles since 2020, reaching 42,401 by the end of 2025. Litija holds the highest number of vehicles in the region with 12,873 motor vehicles and 9,376 passenger cars, surpassing Zagorje and Trbovlje. In Litija, the vehicle count is high enough that if every resident owned only one, it would account for over 80% of the population.
