Veikkausliiga standings shift as KuPS falls to AC Oulu

The Veikkausliiga has resumed following a nearly three-week international break, leading to significant shifts in the league standings. Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) suffered a 0-1 home defeat against AC Oulu, a result that saw the league lead pass to FC Inter Turku.

KuPS head coach Miika Nuutinen expressed frustration with the team's performance, noting defensive errors during high-pressure situations and a lack of offensive efficiency. The team has won only one of its first four matches in the Mestaruussarja. Meanwhile, HJK Helsinki remains a close contender, sitting just three points behind KuPS after a dominant 6-0 victory over VPS.

In another match, FC Inter Turku played to a 0-0 draw against Gnistan. Inter coach Vesa Vasara noted that while his team created numerous scoring opportunities, they struggled with clinical finishing. The draw marks a shift in season dynamics, as Inter has yet to secure a victory against Gnistan this season.
