Veles to host 8th International Comic Colony featuring 14 female artists

The Strip Center of Macedonia – Veles has announced the 8th International Comic Colony, ‘Veles 2026’, scheduled to take place from August 20 to 23. This year’s edition features a unique concept where all participants are female artists.

A total of 14 artists from Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Romania will participate in the event. The artists include Silvia Borbel, Andrada Vaes, and Iris Golgociu from Romania; Ana Čoveva and Velislava Stoyanova Georgieva from Bulgaria; Dragana Kuprešanin from Serbia; Maya Perak from Croatia; and seven Macedonian artists: Melanija Stojanova, Sibela Ismailova, Elena Apostolovska, Anja Stojadinoska, Slavica Kupenkova, Ana Iveva, and Stefanija Atanasova.

The artists will work under the mentorship of Professor Vladimir Vesovic from Belgrade. The organizers aim to use the colony to strengthen cultural tourism in Veles, highlighting the city’s existing comic-related assets, such as street murals and the Strip Center’s library, which contains approximately 10,000 editions.
