Velfærdslisten rejects Randers municipal budget agreement

In Randers Municipality, the Velfærdslisten party has declined to join the new budget agreement for 2027–2030. While the party secured several key objectives, including the reopening of the Østervangsskolen superstructure, the establishment of four new nurseries, and debt relief for Rismølleskolen, disagreements regarding primary school funding proved decisive.

Kasper Fuhr Christensen, chairman of the Children and School Committee and member of Velfærdslisten, stated that the party believes the school sector requires increased investment rather than cuts. The party specifically criticized the decision to move 15 million kroner from the school budget to fund new nurseries, arguing that this occurs at a time when several municipal school buildings require investment and academic results have declined more than the national average.
