Yeni Parti Deputy Melih Meriç stabbed in Gaziantep

Yeni Parti Gaziantep Deputy Melih Meriç was stabbed during a dispute with Seydi Ahmet Keleş in Gaziantep. The altercation reportedly stemmed from disagreements regarding district chairmanship roles. Keleş, who had previously resigned from the CHP to join Yeni Parti, was arrested alongside his son, Hakan Keleş, on charges of attempted intentional murder.

Melih Meriç sustained serious injuries, including damage to his intestines. Following initial treatment at Gaziantep City Hospital, he was transferred to Koç University Hospital in Istanbul via an ambulance plane. Reports indicate that Meriç has been placed on intubation and remains in intensive care.

In response to the incident, the Yeni Parti Gaziantep Provincial Board held a meeting to discuss disciplinary actions. The board has officially expelled Seydi Ahmet Keleş from the party, citing violations of party principles and institutional responsibility. The party also announced new leadership task distributions for the Gaziantep branch.
