Bursa court sentences woman to life for killing and dismembering husband
A court in Bursa has sentenced 69-year-old Adalet Uzunoğlu to aggravated life imprisonment for the murder of her husband, retired police officer Ali Fuat Uzunoğlu. The crime, which occurred on January 28 in the Osmangazi district, involved the defendant killing her husband and subsequently dismembering his body into 15 pieces using a cleaver and a knife.
The investigation began after Uzunoğlu filed a missing person report, claiming her husband had disappeared after going to the entrance of their home. However, police discovered blood traces and biological tissue throughout the residence. Forensic analysis confirmed the remains belonged to the missing officer and matched fingerprints found on the weapons used.
During the trial at the Bursa 9th High Criminal Court, the defendant admitted to dismembering the body but claimed she did so out of fear after finding him lifeless, alleging years of abuse. The court, however, noted that medical reports confirmed her mental health was intact and denied any request for sentence reductions, citing the brutal nature of the crime.
