Veligonda Project works expedited for August water release
Authorities in Andhra Pradesh are accelerating work on the Pula Subbaiah Veligonda Reservoir Project (PSVRP) with plans to release water into the project by the end of August. Engineering teams are working in shifts to complete remaining tasks, including lining work in Tunnel-2, following a temporary pause caused by a worker's death at the site.
In conjunction with the project's progress, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has distributed Rs 250 crore in compensation to evacuees as part of the third tranche of resettlement funds. To date, the government has disbursed a total of Rs 768 crore across three tranches, covering 85 per cent of the Rehabilitation and Resettlement work for 6,206 families.
