Velika Gorica proposes new spatial plan for hospital and schools

The City Council of Velika Gorica is set to deliberate on the sixth targeted amendments to the city's spatial development plan. Mayor Krešimir Ačkar presented the proposal, describing it as a defining decision for the city's future quality of life.

The amendments aim to facilitate several major capital projects, including the construction of a day hospital featuring 25 specialist outpatient clinics, two surgical departments, and a medical-biochemical laboratory. Additionally, the plan paves the way for new schools in Kurilovac, Ščitarjevo, and Rakarje/Pleso, as well as the expansion of the Mraclinska Dubrava landfill.

A significant focus of the new regulations is the promotion of green construction. The proposal increases the mandatory share of green areas within residential building plots to 45 percent, a rate higher than the 20 to 30 percent typically found in other Croatian cities. Further measures include the mandatory preservation of existing trees, the planting of tree lines along new roads, and the greening of parking lots using permeable surfaces and trees.
