Velika Mlaka celebrates Village Day and Saint Anne’s feast

On 25 July 2026, the Croatian locality of Velika Mlaka marked its annual Village Day alongside the feast of Saint Anne. The festivities were centered at the Sports‑Recreation Centre Jure Mihalj‑Đuro and organized by the local committee, the women’s societies of Velika Mlaka and neighboring villages, and the football club NK Velika Mlaka 1947.

The program featured an exhibition of handicrafts, creative workshops for children and adults, and a free goulash prepared by the local hunting association. A multi‑hour futsal tournament, the Cup of the Malonogometna Liga VG Sjever 2026, saw 12 matches in the group stage and a final in which Kurilovec defeated Velika Mlaka. Live music was provided by the tamburitza band “Trešnja”. The celebration concluded with a mass at the chapel of Saint Barbara and the laying of wreaths to honor the fallen defenders of Velika Mlaka.
