Velika Moštanica explosion destroys home, killing one

A powerful explosion in the Velika Moštanica neighborhood of Belgrade caused the complete collapse of a family home. The incident resulted in the death of a 48-year-old man, Nebojša K., while his partner, Dragana F., was injured and transported to a hospital in stable condition.

While initial reports suggested a water heater safety valve failure caused the blast, neighbors reported smelling gunpowder and noted that the resident had a prior history involving explosive devices. Following the collapse, demining experts and specialized units were deployed to the scene. Police reported finding an arsenal including pistols, rifles, and bombs during their investigation.

A rescue operation was conducted by neighbors and emergency services to extract the survivors from the rubble of the approximately 40-square-meter structure.
