Veliko Tarnovo Court postpones assault trial of former Ruse police director

The Veliko Tarnovo District Court has postponed the trial regarding the physical assault of Nikolay Kozhuharov, the former director of the Ruse Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. The proceedings were delayed due to the absence of one defendant and three legal representatives, as well as three requests for postponement submitted by the defense.

The case involves four defendants. One is accused of causing serious bodily harm to a police officer, while the other three are charged with causing minor bodily harm motivated by hooliganism. The incident involved an attack on Kozhuharov and his neighbor, Georgi Dimitrov, in Ruse.

Due to the involvement of a minor defendant, the trial is being conducted behind closed doors. The next hearing is scheduled for November 26, 2026, with December 10, 2026, set as a backup date.
