Veliko Tarnovo officials review Kronospan Bulgaria permit amid air pollution complaints

Authorities in Veliko Tarnovo have convened a working meeting to address widespread complaints regarding air pollution linked to the operations of Kronospan Bulgaria Ltd. Data from the Ministry of Environment and Water indicates that 709 complaints regarding air quality and the company's activities were filed in 2026.

The meeting, led by Regional Governor Marin Bogomilov, included representatives from various institutions, including the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIOSV), the Regional Health Inspection, the Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, and several emergency and labor inspectorates.

As a result of the discussions, the Veliko Tarnovo Regional Administration will request the comprehensive environmental permit for Kronospan Bulgaria from the Executive Agency for Environment. This document will be shared with all responsible institutions and non-governmental organizations for detailed analysis. Following this review, officials will determine if changes to the permit are necessary, with plans to hold a broad public discussion on any proposed modifications.
