Veliko Tarnovo police record 916 speeding violations in one week

Police in the Veliko Tarnovo region recorded 916 speeding violations during a single week of enforcement. The crackdown involved checking 1,923 vehicles and 2,059 individuals, resulting in 750 fines and 69 official reports.

Among the infractions, 106 were committed by truck drivers. Authorities identified ten drivers under the influence of alcohol, with seven recording levels up to 1.2 permille and three exceeding that limit. One driver was caught using narcotics. Other notable violations included 100 instances of improper overtaking, 93 cases of failing to use seatbelts or helmets, and 27 instances of mobile phone use while driving. Additionally, 66 vehicles were found to be in technical disrepair. Law enforcement utilized drones to assist in monitoring several vehicles and individuals during the operation.
