Veliko Tarnovo scooter accidents cause one death, 13 injuries

Three e‑scooter incidents in Veliko Tarnovo Province since the start of the year have resulted in one fatality and 13 injuries. A 55‑year‑old man was killed in Gorna Oryahovitsa after being struck by a car, and a 12‑year‑old child suffered a brain injury after crashing in Liaskovets. Video footage showed children riding without helmets and a near‑miss involving a driver and a scooter rider.

Police said 12 e‑scooter accidents have occurred in the region, with 11 involving serious injuries. Authorities issued 262 fines issued with tickets and 30 with formal notices, and deployed drones as part of a road safety operation. The minimum legal age for e‑scooter use is 16 years.
