Velo Pilica cycling route to span 170 km across 15 municipalities
Fifteen local governments have signed letters of intent to collaborate on the creation of ‘Velo Pilica’, a planned 170-kilometer cycling route running along the Pilica River. The project aims to connect various municipalities in the Łódź Voivodeship, stretching from the border of the Silesian Voivodeship to the border of the Masovian Voivodeship.
The route is designed to link key tourist and natural attractions, including the Sulejów, Spalski, and Przedbórz Landscape Parks, the Sulejów Reservoir, and the Niebieskie Źródła Nature Reserve. Local authorities expect the infrastructure to boost regional tourism and support local businesses such as gastronomy, agritourism, and retail.
This initiative is part of a broader regional strategy to develop a cohesive network of approximately 1,890 kilometers of cycling paths by 2036. The next stages of the project will involve detailed documentation, official agreements, and determining the specific path of the route.
