Venatius Ikem resigns as Cross River PDP chairman

Venatius Ikem, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, has resigned from his position with immediate effect. In a resignation letter addressed to the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, Ikem cited prolonged internal crises, growing divisions, and a lack of clear direction as the primary reasons for his departure.

Ikem noted that the internal disagreements and leadership challenges have made it increasingly difficult to maintain a common purpose or carry out his duties effectively. He expressed concern that these issues could weaken the party’s ability to compete in upcoming electoral seasons, potentially undermining the efforts of members who have invested resources into the organization.

The resignation follows a period of declining influence for the PDP in Cross River State, marked by several high-profile defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
