Venetian cultural heritage projects highlight restoration and art

Venetian cultural institutions are highlighting significant art and restoration projects. The Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro will participate in the 34th International Antique Biennale in Florence from September 26 to October 4, 2026. The gallery will showcase the Apollo del Belvedere by Pier Jacopo Alari Bonacolsi.

This participation coincides with a major restoration and redesign project for the Ca' d'Oro museum. Funded by a 10 million euro donation from Venetian Heritage and the Fondazione Giulio e Giovanna Sacchetti, the project began in 2023 and is expected to conclude in 2027. The renovation includes restoring internal plaster, 15th-century wooden ceilings, Venetian floors, and upgrading climate control and lighting systems to improve accessibility and modernize the museum space.

In another Venetian exhibition, 'Oops! I Locked Myself Out' is currently being held at Palazzo Contarini alla Porta di Ferro. Curated by Costanza Longanesi Cattani, Vincent Matushka, and Yasmine Helou, the exhibition uses the private residence's historical setting to host a multi-sensory experience involving performance, analog photography, and video art.
