Veneto exempts historic cars and motorcycles from emission restrictions

On 21 July 2026 the Veneto regional council approved Law 13, titled “Valorizzazione e tutela dei motoveicoli e degli autoveicoli di interesse storico e collezionistico”. The law exempts motor vehicles built more than thirty years ago that hold a Certificate of Historical Relevance (CRS) from the ordinary traffic‑restriction measures aimed at reducing air pollution.

Vehicles aged between twenty and thirty years may circulate only for specific purposes – such as travelling to authorised workshops or participating in historic‑vehicle rallies – and the exemption can be suspended if emergency air‑quality measures are imposed. Regional leader Alberto Bozza (Forza Italia) and environmental assessor Elisa Venturini said the rule balances cultural‑tourism value with air‑quality goals. A State Council opinion noted that the very small number of historic vehicles makes their impact on overall emissions negligible.
