Veneto, Friuli, and Trentino strengthen Northeast Italy business alliance

The Italian regions of Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and the Autonomous Province of Trento are strengthening the ‘Sistema Nord Est’ project to support business internationalization and promote the Northeast's productive system in foreign markets.

The Veneto regional government has approved the 2026 annual convention draft for the agreement. The project includes a total allocation of 300,000 euros, with 100,000 euros contributed by each of the three participating administrations. This initiative builds upon a collaboration that began in 2019 between Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia and was later expanded to include Trentino.

Massimo Bitonci, Veneto's regional assessor for economic development, stated that the alliance aims to increase competitiveness by presenting shared production chains collectively on international markets. The strategy focuses on economic promotion, research, training, and market support, with specific strategic interest in the Western Balkans, Serbia, and the Istrian area to strengthen European value chains.
