Veneto launches €3 million artisan grants and secures IGP status for Murano glass and Burano lace
The Veneto regional council approved a €3 million funding scheme called “Il Veneto Artigiano. Anno 2026,” presented by President Alberto Stefani and Economic Development assessor Massimo Bitonci. The programme offers two lines of non‑reimbursable contributions – up to €60,000 for ordinary artisans and €30,000 for Master Artisans – covering 30 % of eligible costs such as machinery, hardware, software, website development, renewable‑energy installations and safety systems.
In a parallel development, the first Protected Geographical Indications (IGP) for artisan products in Italy were granted to Murano glass and Burano lace. The designations, announced by Confartigianato Imprese Veneto president Roberto Boschetto, mark a historic step for the region’s traditional crafts and open the way for future EU‑wide protection under the new national regulation aligning with EU rules.
