Veneto region initiative sees high demand for free native trees

The “Alberi per la Pianura Veneta” initiative, promoted by the Veneto Region and Veneto Agricoltura, is seeing significant participation across several Italian cities. The program allows families to reserve up to 10 free native trees or shrubs to plant in their gardens, yards, or private lands to boost biodiversity and air quality.

In Padova, demand has already reached 2,075 plants through 301 reservations, making it the leading municipality in the program. Following Padova, Verona has recorded 1,271 plant requests, and Vicenza has 1,264. Other participating cities include Venice and Treviso.

Verona has officially joined the initiative, with residents able to book plants through the official website until September 30, 2026. The city will manage the collection and distribution of the plants to citizens according to a schedule to be announced in the coming weeks.
