Veneto Region relaunches circular economy coordination tables

The Veneto Region has approved a resolution to relaunch and update its technical coordination tables for by-products and 'end of waste' materials. The initiative aims to foster collaboration between institutions, universities, technical experts, and businesses to strengthen the circular economy.

Regional Environment Councilor Elisa Venturini emphasized the need to ensure that recovered materials can actually find a market and be effectively reused. This move follows a recent crisis in the recycled plastic market, where an influx of low-cost virgin plastic from non-EU countries has reduced demand for recycled materials, threatening the recovery system.

The updated coordination tables will include regional directorates, ARPAV, the Union of Venetian Provinces, Chambers of Commerce, the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development, and various industry associations.
