Veneto Regional Commission authorizes sale of RAI-owned Palazzo Labia

The Veneto Regional Commission for Cultural Heritage has authorized the sale of Palazzo Labia, its adjacent rooms, and related movable assets, all of which are owned by the Italian public broadcaster RAI. The commission noted in an August 31 decision that the historic real estate complex is no longer fully functional for the owner's needs.

While the commission expressed hope for a public acquisition to maximize the site's cultural use and valorization, consulting firm KPMG described the palace as a prime asset for high-end residential, hospitality, or representative office use. Critics have raised concerns that the sale could contribute to the loss of local jobs and the ongoing trend of converting historic Venetian buildings into tourist accommodations.
